Fairbnb…not really.

With all of the saber rattling in the media surrounding the recent “wins” for affordability, Fairbnb has played a central role. Where the media is interestingly quite is surrounding who is actually behind Fairbnb‘s advocacy.

Fairbnb’s founder actually runs a campaigning company. Worse even, it seems as though he may be being paid by the hotel industry to campaign against Airbnb.

Here is the company:

Thorben Wieditz runs Fairbnb and Mestrat. He was previously paid to oppose other proposals, such as Google Labs. He is often cited in articles and reports but they don’t mention that he is literally being paid to oppose Airbnb.

Someone should let city councillors of Toronto and Ottawa know they are being manipulated by biased, lobbyist reports that Fairbnb puts out to protect the hotel industry.

Crazy days.
